First Wednesday Art and Design Program Oct. 5 at WIU

MACOMB, IL -- The Department of Art and Design's October "First Wednesday" event will be held from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Garwood Hall, the Heating Plant Annex and the University Art Gallery.

The WIU Art and Design faculty combine their efforts to offer creative, hands-on activities to visitors. This event is open and free to the public, and visitors are welcome from campus and the surrounding community and region.

October activities include:

Garwood Hall

Cyanotype Prints – Professor Bill Howard, Garwood 12
• Masquerade Masks – Professor Jenny Knavel, Garwood
Halloween Pins – Associate Professor Ta-Teh Ku, Garwood 24
Palette Knife Painting – Professor Tim Waldrop and Professor Damon McArthur, Garwood 25

Heating Plant Annex

• Freeform Plaster Sculptures
– Professor Duke Oursler, HPA 105
Forged Wire Pendants – Professor/Dept. Chair Kat Myers, HPA 107
Cosmic Wheelthrowing – Associate Professor Ian Shelly, HPA 111

The University Art Gallery will also be open during the event for the exhibition of The Tate Lindahl Collection, before it closes Oct. 13. A second exhibition by Chicago artist Phyllis Bramson, "Fairytale Trails and Other Fables," will also be on display.
