Faculty Summer Institute
Below are examples of what faculty have completed by participating in a faculty summer institute learning team.
Faculty Summer Institute (FSI) is a 4-day conference for higher education instructors and other professionals held in May of each year. Participants come from Illinois state universities, community colleges, private institutions, and out-of-state universities.
FSI offers presentations, workshops, and hands-on training involving the latest technological advances in education. Participants may choose to exclusively follow one of three tracks, or attend any session in any track. They may also choose to participate in a Learning Team, in which a group of up to 15 people meet 3 times during the week to focus on one specific aspect of technology or software.
WIU's participants have been distributed among the colleges and library as follows:
CITR will cover travel expenses from the current fiscal year's budget. If you travel in your own vehicle, you will not be reimbursed for your mileage. A state vehicle will be made available for group travel.
CITR will only reimburse for lodging at the state rate, which is $70. It is strongly advised to make your reservations as soon as possible as rooms are limited in the area. Make sure you ask for state rate when making your reservation.

CITR will provide faculty "off-contract" during FSI with a stipend to be used to procure resources that will support and enhance faculty instruction. These resources will be the property of WIU. This money does not go directly to an individual, but will be transferred from CITR to the department of each participant to procure that faculty member's requested resources. This money will be forwarded in July of the next fiscal year.
