Summer Academy

Every May the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research holds a two day summer academy training session. Each year we focus on a different technology to help faculty enhance their teaching and engage their students.

Faculty submit a brief one to two page proposal to CITR with an expression of interest and a discussion regarding how they plan to integrate the technology into their classroom instruction. Faculty selected for participation are provided with the software and/or hardware that is being taught at the academy. This resource is placed in the faculty's possession following the Academy for their use up to and until they leave the University. At such time, the resource(s) are returned to the CITR office.

GoPro Summer Academy 2015

This summer, the Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR) Interactive Lesson Academy will provide ten (10) selected faculty members with in-depth instruction on how to use a GoPro camera and GoPro Studio software to create instructional videos. Faculty selected for participation will receive a GoPro Hero3+ camera with accessories. This resource will be placed in the faculty’s possession following the Academy for their use up to and until they leave the University.

What is a GoPro?

The GoPro is a compact, durable waterproof video camera capable of recording HD quality video, pictures, and time-lapse videos. In addition to the durability, there is virtually an endless amount of ways to mount the camera, which makes it useful in almost any type of environment.

Faculty members selected for participation in the academy will be expected to attend all sessions associated with this academy.

Objectives

Upon completing the academy, participants will be able to:

  • Record instructional videos with the GoPro Hero3+ camera
  • Import and edit video with the GoPro Studio software
