The Master University Instructor Certificate Program was created to help instructors develop and enhance their teaching strategies; identify best practices for instruction; and explore innovative approaches for improving student learning. The program is a combination of online coursework and face-to-face CITR workshops. A “flipped classroom” approach is used to introduce participants to the program content online before they participate in the face-to-face workshop activities.
The program’s curriculum consists of four strands:
- Planning instruction
- Creating learning environments
- Assessing students
- Understanding the university context and faculty role
The program is available to all WIU faculty, including adjunct instructors. The program is administered through the WIU’s Center for Innovation in Teaching and Research (CITR) as part of their professional development offerings.
