Description: Qualitative research and analysis has gained considerable attention and popularity in the social and behavioral sciences in recent years. In part due to its applicability and flexibility for a variety of research topics and settings, qualitative inquiry can provide researchers with a rich and in-depth understanding of social phenomena. This workshop will discuss each of the five major methodological approaches used for qualitative inquiry: 1) narrative research, 2) phenomenology, 3) grounded theory, 4) ethnography, and 5) case studies. Example research questions and potential answers that can be elucidated by using each of these methods will serve as a basis for comparison between these five approaches. The workshop will be geared toward those who are interested in using qualitative research methods and analysis in the future, but any faculty member who is interested in learning more about qualitative research is welcome.
This workshop is being repeated on November 20.
