ISJP Book Study: Mónica Guzmán’s I Never Thought of It That Way: How to Have Fearlessly Curious Conversations in Dangerously Divided Times (Part I)
Date: Wednesday, September 14th, 2022
Time: 12:00 PM - 12:50 PM
Location: Mary Lou Kent Room Malpass LIibrary and Zoom
Instructor(s): James La Prad, Rebekah Buchanan

Description: This is a 5-week discussion and participants are encouraged to attend whenever possible.

We will discuss a new part of Gusman's book each week.

Mónica Guzmán , the chief storyteller for the national cross-partisan depolarization organization Braver Angels, explore how to overcome the fear and certainty that surround us to finally do what only seems impossible: understand and even learn from people in your life whose whole worldview is different from or even opposed to yours.

Drawing from cross-partisan conversations she’s had, organized, or witnessed Guzmán shows how you can put your natural sense of wonder to work for you immediately, finding the answers you need by talking with people—rather than about them—and asking the questions you want, curiously.

Join us as we read and discuss Guzmán’s book and how to apply it to community building at WIU.

A calendar invite and Zoom link will be provided upon registration.
