Procedures

Individuals that have Iowa Teaching Licenses may apply for an evaluation to add an endorsement through the Teacher Certification Office. The Certification Officer will evaluate transcripts to determine a program of study for the Iowa endorsement being sought. Course work and/or field experiences may be at the undergraduate or graduate level depending on specific certificate wanted. Individuals may be required to take undergraduate, graduate, or a combination of undergraduate and graduate course work to remove deficiencies.

Individuals seeking this evaluation must submit a Transcript Evaluation Request (PDF) [requires Adobe Reader]  for an Iowa endorsement and letter to the Teacher Certification Office—91 HH, Western Illinois University, 1 University Circle, Macomb, IL 61455 requesting an evaluation. The letter must include specific endorsement wanted, official transcripts from all institutions attended, and the fee for the evaluation. Contact the Certification Office for additional information on fee and endorsements available through Western Illinois University.

Once the letter, transcripts, fee, etc. the certification officer will review the information, work with the specific department as needed, and will send a letter outlining program deficiencies to be removed before recommendation for an endorsement will be made by the Certification Officer at Western Illinois University
