Community Music School String Orchestra

String Placement auditions will take place on Thursday evening, September 3  from 5:00 - 7:00 PM and Saturday, September 5 beginning at 11:00 in Room 129. Auditions will consist of string students performing some scales, a prepared piece and sight-reading. Email Dr. Cangro to sign up for a time - RM-Cangro@wiu.edu

Update

After the tremendously successful 2008 debut of the youth string orchestra, this fall there will be 2 string ensembles! One for younger students and one for high school-aged students depending on how many students audition. We will rehearse separately on Saturdays and perform in the winter and spring concerts. More to come!
 


 
Purpose
The string orchestra program is designed to provide an ensemble experience for elementary through high school-aged students. The aim is to develop musicianship and ensemble skills through rehearsing and performing quality string literature.

All rehearsals will take place at the School of Music - Browne Hall
