Western Illinois University Customers

If you are a DPS customer connecting to the DPS website using the University network–either on-campus or using University dial-up services–please use the DPS in-house dropbox.

Customers from Outside Western Illinois University

If you are a DPS customer connecting to the DPS website from outside the University network; please use the DPS web-based dropbox.

Instructions for Using the DPS In-House Dropbox

Note: Do not attempt to open the folder called "DPS-DropBox". DPS has designed the DPS-DropBox folder, like all such dropboxes, to allow users to drop files into the dropbox without seeing the contents of the dropbox.

Windows 7 Users

Go to Computer either by clicking on the Start button and clicking on "Computer" or typing "Computer" in the search field and selecting it from the list of locations, programs, and files that appears.

In the address bar of the window that appears, enter the address "\\dps.wiu.edu\dps-filetransfer" and press the Enter key.

When Windows asks you to enter network credentials, enter "dpsguest" (without the quotation marks) as both the user name and the password.

Inside the DPS-FileTransfer folder that appears, customers will find the folder "DPS-DropBox". Customers can drop files onto DPS-DropBox; but they cannot see the contents of DPS-DropBox nor can they copy files from DPS-DropBox. Unfortunately, Windows does not give users feedback about whether they successfully dropped files into DPS-DropBox. DPS staff, however, can verify a successful transfer for you.

Note to DPS customers: Because the DPS staff does not receive automatic notification when files appear in the dropbox, please notify your DPS contact with file names before or immediately after copying files to the DPS-DropBox to confirm your file transfer. Thank you.

Mac OS X Users

From the Finder, select "Connect to Server..." from the "Go" menu.

In the "Connect to Server" dialog, enter the address "dps.wiu.edu" (without the quotation marks) in the "Server Address" field. Click the "Connect" button.

In the "Connect to Server" login dialog, click the "Guest" radio button from the "Connect as" options. Click the "Connect" button.

From the list of volumes that appears, select "DPS-FileTransfer".

Inside the DPS-FileTransfer folder that appears, customers will find the folder "DPS-DropBox". Customers can drop files onto DPS-DropBox; but they cannot see the contents of DPS-DropBox nor can they copy files from DPS-DropBox.

Note to DPS customers: Because the DPS staff does not receive automatic notification when files appear in the dropbox, please notify your DPS contact with file names before or immediately after copying files to the DPS-DropBox to confirm your file transfer. Thank you.
