Cathy Skinner

Cathy Skinner, a past graduate of the ACI program at Western Illinois University, is Picture of Cathy Skinneranother accomplished and experienced school administrator.  Currently, Skinner is the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel for the Woodridge School District #68.  In June, she will have completed her third year at this position.  Previously Skinner was the Director for Human Resources at District U-46, in Elgin, Illinois.  Skinner held this position, at the second largest school district in Illinois, for 23 years.

As the Assistant Superintendent for Personnel, Cathy Skinner has had to decide the best way to deal with personnel issues and personnel fairly and equitably, while using a humanistic approach.  Skinner stated that she realized that each case was different and must be treated as such, no matter what similarities there are to past issues.  She also stated that, “It is not always an easy decision to make; however, I look at the complete picture and make a final decision on what is best for everyone who is involved.”

Cathy Skinner is married to David Skinner, and together they have raised three children.  Their two sons are Timothy and Brett, and their daughter, Ginger, is married with two of her own children; Alexis, who is three years old, and Logan, who is eighteen months old.

In 2006, Cathy Skinner was elected as Region 2 Representative for the Executive Board of the American Association of School Personnel Administrators (AASPA).  Skinner was elected unanimously by acclamation at the annual region meeting on October 19, 2006 at the AASPA’s 68th Annual Conference in Detroit, Michigan.  This position will last for three years.  The duties to this position include representing Region 2 (this region covers the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Ohio, and the Canadian provinces of Manitoba and Ontario) and serving as Board Liaison to the Ad Hoc Minority Recruitment Committee, as well as attending three board meetings a year.  The AASPA Executive Board is comprised of four officers and six regional representatives from across the United States.  This new position, and the workload that accompanies it, will not be a problem for Skinner, as she is not new to AASPA leadership.  In the past, Skinner has been the chair of both the Recognition and the Legislative Governmental Committee, and has been an AASPA member since 1996. 

Skinner is active at the state level as well as national, and has served on the boards of the Illinois Association for School, College, and University Staffing (IASCUS), and the Illinois Association of School Personnel Administrators (IASPA).  Along with these, and several other professional and personal organizations, Skinner is also involved with the Benedictine University Teacher Education Advisory Committee, and the Career Planning and Placement Advisory Board at Northern Illinois University.  Currently, Cathy Skinner is completing her doctoral degree in educational leadership at National Louis University.
