  1. Attending: Amy Carr, William Thompson, Judy Dallinger (ex officio), Phyllis Rippey, Paige Goodwin, Margaret Sinex, Kathleen O’Donnell-Brown, Candace McLaughlin, Dean Zoerink, Jim Schmidt (ex officio), Susan Meiers, Marty Barclay (Honors College), Sharon Evans (guest), David Boocker (guest)

  3. Minutes of 9-21-06 approved with amendments.
  4. Cross listing of a course on film between English and Broadcasting
    1. David Boocker, chair of English, described purpose of the cross listing

                                                               i.      The cross listed course (currently titled English 290) is to support a film studies minor

                                                             ii.      Discussion as to implementation of the above

1.      Creation of Broadcasting 290

a.       Broadcasting prefers Broadcasting 290 to be in Gen Ed

b.      Discussion of the above

2.      Or allow faculty from both departments to teach English 290

a.       Semester Credit Hours discussion

3.      Gen Ed does not make a decision as to whether a course is or is not cross listed. CCPI does, but Gen Ed is okay with cross listing this course. We thank both English and Broadcasting for the courtesy of informing us of their intentions.

  1. Course title and description change in Biology 
    1. Susan Meiers describes the course change.

                                                               i.      Biol 102 becomes Bot 200

                                                             ii.      Biol 103 becomes Zool 200

                                                            iii.      Biology desires to create classes that meet Biol 102/103 requirements with either botanical (Bot 200) or zoological (Zool 200) emphases.

    1. Moved: In effect the new courses listed above are tantamount to the original courses and are acceptable to this council as Gen Ed courses.

                                                               i.       8 in favor , 1 abstention,

                                                             ii.      Motion carries.
