II. Announcements

      No announcements were made.

III. Old Business

  1. Interim Report-Senate meeting:  Lori Baker-Sperry reported that she received little feedback or criticism from the senate concerning the interim report.

  1. General Education survey:  Baker-Sperry reminded committee members that the on-line survey has been available.  Results can be viewed on-line as well.  The committee is expected to review results at the next meeting.

c.   Recommendation concerning IAI:  Representatives from the WIU Admissions office were welcomed to the meeting.  Discussion between the council and Admissions representatives involved the articulation process of transferred courses.  Paula Rhodes described how she evaluates transcripts from other institutions and determines the equivalent WIU courses if the Illinois Articulation Initiative agreement has not already set the equivalency.  When she is unable to find a match, the course information is sent to WIU department chairs for further evaluation.  Sara Jo Guy reported that somewhere around five courses a month do not meet IAI guidelines and need to be considered by chairs as general education credit.  Some discussion involved whether CGE should be involved in articulation process.  Polly Radosh suggested the council should study the issue in more detail before deciding to add another layer of bureaucracy to the process.  The Admissions representatives were thanked for their time and information.

d.   Baker-Sperry asked council members to review the email from David Lane prior to the next meeting.

e.   Baker-Sperry also asked members to read the Peer Review article.
