Duties: Serves a critical function in overseeing, without directly intervening in, the day-to-day operations of the student-run newspaper and digital annual. The Board approves the publication's annual budgets, any fee increase requests, and the editor-in-chief selection committee's nominees. Members approve financial budgets and student appointments for editors; listen to and discuss criticisms and suggestions made by readers and agencies (e.g., advertisers) about Courier operations and publications; and express opinions about Courier content, layout, etc. The Board stands in the place of the Vice President for Student Services in dealing with the special press organizations and forwards their recommendations to the Vice President for final review. Duties outside the regularly scheduled meetings may include interviewing candidates for job openings with the Courier and the Sequel yearbook (editor, assistant editor) and being available for "emergency" meetings when the need arises.
