General Information

Guest rooms for conference participants may be reserved at one of the motels in Macomb. When making reservations, please mention the WIU Dealing with Difference Institute as special rates may apply. Participants are responsible for their own accommodations.

Cancellations received by May 12, 2009 will receive a refund of all fees paid minus $10. Cancellations received after May 12, 2009 will not receive a refund, but registration may be transferred to a colleague within the same institution.

Location: The conference will be held on the Macomb campus of Spoon River College, 208 South Johnson Street, Macomb, Illinois. A map and parking instructions will be included with the registration confirmation.

Professional Development: Western Illinois University is an ISBE Approved Provider of Professional Development (#10634). The DWDI will provide up to 12 hours development activity that could be applied towards teacher re-certification subject to the teacher’s Certificate Renewal Plan and approval by the teacher’s Local Professional Development Committee. Participation verification forms will be available at the Institute.

Student Participants who wish to be considered for a scholarship to help cover the cost of attending the DWDI should contact Janice Welsch.

Graduate Credit: Participants interested in receiving course credit for the Institute should contact the Department Secretary, Department of Educational and Interdisciplinary Studies 309/298-1183.
