Individuals and/or Agencies with an appropriate vehicle registration number, insurance, and current drivers license may enroll to provide to bill for transportation services provided to EI children and families.

Individuals may enroll to be reimbursed for costs incurred as a result of transporting their child to/from EI services identified on an IFSP. Individuals wanting to enroll this way should indicate on the EI Service Matrix that they are parent transportation providers so they will not be identified in the system as such and not contacted to provide transportation services for other children.

A Provider Agency may enroll the agency as a whole to provide transportation services or enroll individuals who are employed with the agency to provide transportation services for the agency. It is recommended that provider agencies enroll the agency as a whole. When enrolling this way, the vehicle registration, driver's license, and proof of insurance for each vehicle being used should be included with the enrollment application.

Provider Connections processes the initial enrollment documentation for transportation provider enrollees and forwards the application to the EI Central Billing Office (CBO), the Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS), and the Illinois Department of Healthcare and Family Services (HFS). Enrollment for transportation services, other than private auto classification, is generally at least a 6-8 week process. Although enrollment into the CBO provider system occurs within 7-10 days, authorizations to provide such transportation services may not be obtained until HFS determines the rate of reimbursement. The rate of reimbursement is based upon the type of vehicle being used.
