Current Early Intervention Practices for Children from Split Homes Survey

Dear Early Interventionist,

My name is Erin Gahn and I am an undergraduate research assistant at Edinboro University working to gather data for a research study entitled Current Early Intervention Practices for Children from Split Homes.

Under the supervision of Dr. Jane Puhlman (jpuhlman@edinboro.edu) and Chelsie Markle, a graduate student (cm132281@scots.edinboro.edu) from the Speech, Hearing, and Language Department at Edinboro University, I am now working to collect data on how early interventionists handle the sharing of information when a child lives in multiple homes (e.g. divorced parents, single parent & grandparent). This study serves as a descriptive study that may shed light on early intervention practices across the country.

Below is the link to our survey with questions regarding how you may handle the sharing of information between separated families. I am working hard to collect the input from early interventionists of various disciplines (e.g. occupational therapy, speech pathology, physical therapy, service coordinator) so that information shared can be applicable across fields. I will be presenting findings from this study at the American Speech and Hearing Association annual conference in November (16). Previous research was conducted statewide in Pennsylvania and presented at Pennsylvania Speech and Hearing Association convention in April.

Your help would be greatly appreciated in accomplishing this goal. The survey does not include any identifying information about employees or place of work. In addition, it would be very helpful if you could please forward this email with the survey link to anyone who works on your EI team, and hopefully complete it yourself, if you are an early interventionist. As an incentive for completing this survey, we are doing a random drawing for a $50 gift certificate (you must provide your email address to be eligible). If you have any questions, I will be happy to answer them for you (eringahn@gmail.com).
