Student and Faculty Testimonies
Dan Malachuk- Assistant Professor, Department of English and Journalism
"WIU-QC is the area's only public university, and I really appreciate the seriousness with which our students pursue their education. Working with students who have professional experience is one of the great rewards of teaching at WIU-QC; their perspectives enrich our discussions."
Kenny Wheeler II - Academic Advisor, College of Liberal Arts & Sciences
"As an academic adviser, there are two objectives of my position that allow me to leave an impact on those I work: 1) provide students with an opportunity to earn a high-quality, academically sound degree which allows them to meet their educational goals, and 2) enhance the future of graduates by enabling them to be eligible for graduate/professional school, advancement in their careers, or personal growth and satisfaction. My passion of working with students at the college level gives me the opportunity to pass the torch every day. To me, there is no greater reward than helping the next person create or develop a life for themselves that propels them to be the best individual that they can be. It leaves the campus, the community, and the world in a better place."
Joan - Recreation, Park & Tourism Administration major from Bettendorf, Iowa
Graduation Date: Summer 2009
"I love the hands-on learning experiences I gained from instructors who have real-world professional experience. I thoroughly enjoyed the small class sizes and how willing the professors were to work with you individually. There is no question in my mind that I chose the right school to complete my bachelor's degree. I also loved being involved in the extra-curricular activities and having a leadership role in a student organization. It gave me direct experience and helped me gain many skills and qualities that I will need in the future."
Meechee - Graduate student in Counselor Education from Rock Island, IL
Graduation Date: May 2009
"WIU-QC has been more than I expected in so many ways. The staff is helpful and understanding. When I had my daughter mid-semester, my instructors and I worked diligently to help me keep up in all my classes. The computer labs and library provide a world of resources, the classes are fairly small so we have great group discussions and the curriculum is taught in a way which allows me to actually enjoy the material I'm studying. WIU has found a unique way to blend intellectual challenge and academic support. I'm very pleased with the quality of my education."
Jamie - Graduate student in Counselor Education from Dixon, IL
