Honorary Page for a Day for the Illinois State Senate offered by Senator John M. Sullivan (817)
Function of a Senate Page: Service to Senators and Senate staff, under the direction of the Sergeant-at-Arms
- Pages have responsibilities in the Senate Chamber and in Committee Hearings as necessary. They run errands, carry messages and have an important role in making the legislative process flow more smoothly.
- Honorary pages sit in the Senate Chamber and see firsthand the legislative process of how bills become law.
- Age: It is suggested that the prospective page be at least 10 years of age
- Dress: Appropriate dress includes – dresses or moderate skirt or slacks with a blouse for girls; slacks, shirt, tie, and jacket for boys. Please wear comfortable shoes as the Page will be on their feet while at the Capitol.
- General Suggestions: Please call Senator John Sullivan’s Legislative Aide, Sheila Miller at (309) 833-5526 to arrange a mutually agreeable date.
- Spring Session runs January through May 31
- Fall Veto Session is in November
- Generally, the session begins at noon; however, the day of the week you choose may affect the time the session begins.
- Please allow adequate time to drive to Springfield and to find the Senator’s office (Room 113 of the Illinois State Capitol). Food is available in the Basement level of the Capitol Building or nearby restaurants.
