Board of Trustees BA Degree Program
Frequently Asked Questions
- Can I be admitted to graduate or professional school or be certified to teach with the BOT/BA degree?
-
After you successfully complete the BOT/BA degree program, you will receive a bachelor of arts degree. A recent survey of our BOT/BA graduates indicated that 90 percent of those who applied to graduate schools were admitted. However, you should be familiar with the courses required for admission to the graduate or professional school of your choice. We advise you to verify the need for required courses with the individual graduate or professional school as soon as you think you wish to pursue a specific graduate degree.
If you want to work toward an additional certificate or license such as a teaching certificate, you must determine what courses are required. For teaching certificate information, we recommend communicating with the director of the Teacher Certification Office, Western Illinois University, 1 University Circle, Macomb, Illinois 61455-1390 (309/298-1434).
On-campus attendance is required for WIU endorsement. Elementary and special education certification may also be completed at the WIU-Quad Cities campus.
- Can I complete a major or minor through the BOT/BA degree program?
- You are encouraged to take course work that meets your individual educational needs. Majors require on-campus attendance and admission through the appropriate academic departments at WIU. A BOT/BA degree student may earn a minor by completing the exact requirements listed in the WIU undergraduate catalog.
