The Department of Special Education provides comprehensive graduate programs for students desiring professional careers in special education. Students completing the master's degree usually assume positions as classroom, consultant, or inclusion teachers of children and adolescents with varying disabilities in schools, clinics, and residential facilities. Completion of this degree is also intended to qualify students for varying endorsements and/or certifications in special education in their state of residence.
To comply with WIU COEHS policy and guidelines, the evaluation of teacher dispositions is a critical component to teacher education. The SPED Department will use the SPED Graduate Program Disposition Evaluation Form (1/5/2009) when concerns arise related to a graduate student's dispositions.
