Q. When are meetings and where do they take place?
A. Meetings are held every Wednesday at 8:00 p.m. in the Brophy Hall Pool
Q. Are there any requirements to join the SCUBA Club?
A. No.
Q. What are some things that you do as a club?
A. TONS! You can check out either the Calendar of Events page (for things we are doing at the meetings) or the Events/Trips page (for things we have done or are doing outside of the meetings).
Q. Are there any dues to join SCUBA Club?
A. Yes, dues are $30 for your first semester and $25 every semester after that. Dues includes free gear rentals when you go diving.
Q. Do I need to bring anything with me to the meetings?
A. We provide you with all of the gear you will need. All you need to bring is a swim suit and towel.
Q. Do I need to be certified to join SCUBA Club.?
A. No; however, you do need to be certified if you want to do any open water diving with us outside of club.
Q. Can I get certified through SCUBA Club.
A. No. However, WIU does offer SCUBA certification classes (Kin108 for beginners) every semester.
Q. What does SCUBA stand for?
A. SCUBA stands for Self Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus
Q. What is the difference between SCUBA Diving and Skin Diving?
A. SCUBA uses an external tank to supply air to the diver. While skin diving, a diver uses only mask, fins, and snorkel, and relying on their own lung capacity underwater.
