010 (Leroy) “Stix” Morley-(Deceased) BA-Western Illinois University

 

He competed in football, basketball and track at WIU from 1925-1929.

 

After teaching 18 years at the high school level in Illinois and completing a tour of duty with the Marine Corps, Morley returned to WIU in 1947 as head track and basketball coach and assistant football coach.

During his 22-year WIU basketball coaching tenure Morley produced a 367-213 record.

 

His teams won eight Interstate Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (IIAC) titles, competed in seven NAIA finals and placed second nationally in 1955 and 1958.

 

He was named the 1955 NAIA Coach of the Year and the 1956 Rochne Club Coach of the Year.

In 1963 Morley was inducted into the NAIA Hall of Fame.

 

He was selected as charter member of the Illinois High School Hall of Fame (1973) and was inducted into the WIU Hall of Fame in 1974.
