The Office of Planning, Budget, and Institutional Research

The Office of Planning, Budget, and Institutional Research provides information and analytical studies and responds to ad hoc requests to advance university-wide planning, budgeting, assessment, and accountability reporting. We provide and facilitate access to data that are timely, accurate, reliable, and valid to support institutional decision making as Western Illinois University becomes the leading comprehensive university in the United States.

Planning

Planning entails not only Strategic Planning involved with measuring Western Illinois University's success in accomplishing the goals set forth in the Higher Values in Higher Education strategic plan, but also in planning for the future. Such future vision is apparent in the Facilities Master Planning efforts which are being undertaken to coordinate the physical development of both the Macomb and Quad Cities campuses and the Technology Plan which is ensuring that our computer and information technology efforts are aligned with the goals of Higher Values in Higher Education.

Budget

The Budget Office oversees the allocation and reporting of all university funding, whether from state-appropriated funding, income generated from tuition and fees, or other revenue sources. These efforts are vital in helping the university meet its current and future funding priorities.

Institutional Research

Institutional Research analyzes a variety of university and related data to assist in measuring performance and planning for the future of Western Illinois University. Institutional Research also annually produces the WIU Fact Book which is a commonly used source of current and historical information about Western faculty, staff, and students.
