Western Illinois University's long awaited Performing Arts Center is finally beginning to take shape on the Macomb campus.
After a June 12-13, 2007 visit to interact with the Macomb campus and local community, the design and architectural group of Pelli Clark Pelli from New Haven, CT submitted design drawings and models showcasing the proposed structure on July 23rd. The schematic design phase concluded in November and was submitted to the Capital Development Board.
The funding outlook has improved, with Governor Blagojevich recommending full funding for the project. However, the state legislature has yet to approve new capital funds. In addition, meeting the desired environmentally conscious LEED initiatives and correcting utility infrastructure deficiencies, an expanded funding request, above the original $61.5 million, has been submitted.
Western's Performing Arts Center will house a 1,400-seat proscenium theatre auditorium, a 250-seat thrust stage, and a 150-seat studio theatre.

Located near the corner of Adams St. and Western Ave., the new Performing Arts Center will provide a magnificent entry at the southwest corner of campus.
