Western Illinois University is committed to providing state-of-the-art technologies, infrastructure, support, and security. However, along with these technological advances come risks that must be addressed by the University. Several campus technology policies address these issues.

Computer Anti-Virus Policy

Computer viruses can be merely annoying or can be extremely destructive. All campus computers have anti-virus software installed and maintained. Students can obtain anti-virus software without charge to protect their own computers and transfer of infected files.

Computer Security Policy

The Campus Network Policy focuses on ensuring protection of information and continuation of program operations on all WIU computerized information systems. This policy applies to all WIU faculty, staff, students, vendors, contractors, etc., who access or attach to computers operated by WIU.

Computing Use Policy

Everyone who used the computing resources at WIU is responsible for using the resources in an ethical, considerate, and lawful action. The Computing Use Policy outlines:
