About Special Projects
Special Projects are innovative collaborative technology projects with special emphasis placed on exploring emerging or new technologies and their use within the university, West Central Illinois Region, and the state of Illinois.
Special Projects have limited staff and resources, as such all its efforts utilize diverse resources across campus. In addition, projects tend to be entrepreneurial in nature.
The Special Projects Director, Michael Dickson, represents Western Illinois University on statewide commissions (Illinois Broadband Task Force), policy-making boards (Illinois Century Network Policy Board), and development advisory commissions (The Illinois Advanced Engineering Task Force).
