Undergraduate Majors, Minors & Programs of Study
Program Overview
Clinical laboratory scientists perform laboratory tests to aid in the diagnosis of disease or assess response to treatment under the direction of a pathologist. At WIU, students develop the ability to work closely with other health care professionals, use complex and precise instruments, and gain a solid background in the sciences.
Each student in the Clinical Laboratory Science major completes three years of study at WIU, including many liberal arts courses, and a fourth year at an affiliated hospital-sponsored school of clinical laboratory science.
Students planning to major in Clinical Laboratory Science should complete three years of mathematics and one year each of biology, physics, and chemistry in high school.
