2010 Summer Intern Program

Goal:
To employ a junior majoring in Agriculture with above average academic performance, excellent communication skills, a strong work ethic, and a farm background, for the purpose of learning the skills and responsibilities required of a professional farm manager.
Objectives:
- Interview a select group of students that meet the criteria stated above.
- Employ an intern for a 3-month period beginning approximately May 15 through August 15 at a competitive wage.
- Provide the intern with a basic understanding of professional farm management, rural appraisal, and real estate sales through observation and specific work assignments.
- The intern shall be based in the Monticello or Geneseo offices in Illinois.
- One HFM employee shall coordinate the intern’s activities. The intern shall have the opportunity to work with a number of different HFM personnel.
- The intern shall conduct himself/herself in a manner which reflects favorably upon them self, Hertz Farm Management, Inc., its staff, and clients.
- The intern shall receive meaningful work experience which will reflect favorably upon Hertz Farm Management, Inc. and the professions of farm management, rural appraisal, and real estate sales.
- The intern shall participate in an interim evaluation on or around July 1.
- The intern shall complete an exit interview and evaluation at the end of the summer.
