Transportation

Macomb, Illinois is easily accessed! About three hours from Urbana-Champaign and Iowa City, and four hours from Chicago, IL and St. Louis, MO, conference participants may fly in/out of one of the Chicago, IL airports. Amtrak train has two daily schedules from Chicago to Macomb, arriving in the morning at 10:52 am and in the evening at 9:15 pm; with two scheduled departures from Macomb at 7 am and 6:18 pm daily. Very early reservations may yield an $18.00 one-way ticket to/from Chicago. Visit www.amtrak.com for complete schedule and reservation information.

For those who wish to fly into/out of one of our regional airports - Peoria, IL and Moline, IL (Quad Cities) Airports (approximately 1.5 hour drive to Macomb) - we have arranged scheduled shuttle vans to complete your trip into Macomb. Very reasonable fees will be charged for the scheduled trips. Conference participants may make reservations for airport shuttles via the conference registration form.

Shuttle Service

Your hosts for the 2008 ALA Conference, Western Illinois University will be providing shuttle service to/from the regional airports in either Moline, IL or Peoria, IL.

Each airport is approximately 75 miles from Macomb
The shuttle will be approximately a 1.5 hour trip, one-way
Shuttle service will begin on Monday, April 21 and will end on Sunday, April 27.
Shuttle service will not be individualized, but your wait should be reasonable.
Please look for a hospitality table in the airport, or wait in the baggage claim area for a shuttle driver to announce departure to Macomb.
The cost for the shuttle is $20 one-way or $35 for a round trip. You must pay for the shuttle in advance of your trip. To do so, utilize the conference registration form.
