Matthew Toland 2005, 2010

Business Information: Executive Director of The Campbell Center for Historic Preservation Studies
Advice for Freshmen: Get involved and stay busy. Get to know your professors and keep in touch when you graduate. After you graduate, attend Alumni events and give money to the University so that new students can have a great experience at WIU like you did! You will get out of your time at Western what you put into it. Have fun and get active!
Favorite WIU Memory: I was busy when I attended WIU. I loved going to concerts; plays and musical; lectures; Women's basketball, softball and soccer games; homecoming; meetings; and other special events. What a wonderful opportunity to explore and learn!
Family/Hobbies: I still like to keep busy. I am on the Board of Directors for Quad Citians Affirming Diversity (QCAD, a LGBTQ Community Center in Rock Island), the Illinois Association of Museums, The Illinois State Historical Society and the WIU Alumni Council. I am currently teaching in the Museum Studies program at the WIU-QC campus and I LOVE to travel.
