Advice for Freshmen:
2 Things. Number 1: Get involved! My 4 years at Western were some of the best experiences of my life because of all the things I was involved in whether that was on or off campus. WIU has a club/organization for EVERYTHING! Go to the activities fair and meet people! Some of them will become lifelong friends. Also get involved in the community. Since Macomb is smaller, there are many more opportunities to serve on local committees or volunteer in the town.   Number 2: Introduce yourself to your professors and participate in class. When you have good communication with your professors and participate in class discussions, you will find that you learn better and it will ultimately result in a better academic performance.

Favorite WIU Memory:  Oh! It is so hard to pick just one…Being selected to speak at the Mock Presidential Election, receiving a bid and running home to my Delta Zeta sorority sisters after rush weekend, getting to be a Disney princess for Variety Show and the Homecoming Parade, or driving around Macomb in my roommate’s VW bug convertible with the top down, blasting music, and waving to everyone we knew. Those were just a few of the amazing memories I made in my 4 years at WIU and I wouldn’t trade them for the world!

Family Information/Special Interests and Hobbies:  My uncle (Todd Swanson ’95) is also an alum so I am not the only Leatherneck in the family! I currently reside in Lombard, IL and in my spare time I enjoy golfing, spending time with family & friends, and reading a good book by the pool.
