Naumann Named Head Coach of Leatherneck Swimming and Diving Program

Former Leatherneck swimmer and student assistant coach Greg Naumann has been named head coach of the Fighting Leatherneck swimming and diving program.

A four-year letterwinner at Western (1998-2002), Naumann was a part of the 1998-99 conference championship team under then-head coach Jerry Champer.

Twelve Leathernecks Named to Missouri Valley Football Conference All-Select NFL Team

Founded in 1985 as the Gateway Football Conference, the Missouri Valley Football Conference will celebrate its 25th season of FCS (Football Championship Subdivision) football during the 2009 season.

To kick off the league’s 25th Year Celebration, the Missouri Valley Football Conference is paying tribute to its all-time greats - those who have had stellar careers or played with distinction in the National Football League.

Gibbs and Stoudamire Earn Missouri Valley Football Preseason Honors, Leathernecks Picked Fifth in Preseason Poll

Running back Dre Gibbs and defensive back Patrick Stoudamire were named to the 2009 Missouri Valley Football Preseason team and four others were named honorable mention as announced at the league’s media day.

The Fighting Leathernecks were picked fifth overall with 174 points in the Valley Football Preseason Poll as voted on by league coaches, media and sports information directors.

Trimpe Joins Volleyball Staff as Undergraduate Assistant Coach

Sarah Trimpe didn’t like the idea of leaving the game of volleyball behind after her playing eligibility at Western Illinois expired following last season.

It wasn’t hard for the former Fighting Leatherneck setter to say yes when Western head volleyball coach Kym McKay offered her a spot on the coaching staff as an undergraduate assistant while she finishes her bachelor’s degree in history education.

2009 Football Media Guide

Orders are now being taken for the 2009 Leatherneck Football Media Guide, which will be available for shipping in late July. Each copy of the 184-page annual publication costs $10 plus shipping/handling.

The Leathernecks will report for fall camp on August 6 and hold their first official practice Saturday, August 8. Media Day is scheduled for Tuesday, August 11.
