Commencement Ceremonies Held
Western Illinois University's Fall Commencement Weekend (Dec. 18-19) recognized 570 individual students who were eligible to graduate in December.
A total of 570 candidates for graduation–468 undergraduates and 102 master's graduates–crossed the stage during two Dec. 19 Commencement ceremonies. Undergraduates received their diploma covers; master's students were hooded with the University and discipline colors.

Quinn Announces Schedule for WIU-QC Building One
Illinois Governor Pat Quinn recently visited the Western Illinois University-Quad Cities 60th Street campus in Moline with an update on the renovation of approximately 60,000-square-feet of spa ce for the new WIU-QC Riverfront campus. The funding is part of the Illinois Jobs Now! capital plan, which was signed into law this summer by Governor Quinn.
Quinn said that bids for the renovation of Building One will be announced after the first of the year, followed by bond sales by the end of the first quarter. Groundbreaking for Building One is anticipated in March 2010.

Spend Your Summer at Western
From General Education courses to online courses (log on from poolside!) to classes that count toward a major, Western's 2010 Summer Session has something to suit every student's schedule...and degree.
According to Ken Hawkinson '78 MA '79, associate provost and coordinator of summer school at Western, courses are taught by full-time faculty and the vast majority hold the highest degree in their field. Summer Session 2010 courses available include offerings in general education, major courses, graduate courses and honors courses, delivered in residential, extension or online formats.
