Schroth Named COEHS Distinguished Alumnus

Richard SchrothA Western Illinois University recreation, park and tourism administration (RPTA) graduate has been named the 2008 recipient of the WIU College of Education and Human Services (COEHS) Distinguished Alumni Award.

Richard Schroth, a 1972 graduate and the CEO of Executive Insights in Rockville, MD, is considered a global expert in business and strategic information technology related issues. He has been named one of Consulting magazine's 2008 Top 25 Consultants in the World.

He has more than 25 years of experience and has played a key role in a number of organizations. Schroth has been chief technology officer and president of technology management consulting for Perot Systems, co-founded CSC Index, and served as a senior vice president and chief technology officer for the Marriott Corporation. His credentials include four years as a Senior Visiting Fellow at the Wharton School of Business and six years as a member of the Executive Education Faculty of AT&T. In 2002, Schroth co-authored the book How Companies Lie: Why Enron is Just the Tip of the Iceberg. He recently began a five-year Fulbright Senior Scholar term during which he will lead a major technology and public policy effort at the National University of Ireland in Galway.


Schroth received his bachelor's degree from Western Illinois University, his master's degree from the University of Illinois and his doctorate from Indiana University.
