Join COEHS For Two Football Games This Month
All COEHS alumni and reunion attendees, please visit us in "The Right Place" tent during Homecoming on October 17. You will have the chance to meet with Dean Nick DiGrino and other COEHS faculty and staff from 12:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.! Come by and pick-up a stadium cushion before going to the game and register to win a new iPod Nano! We hope to see you there!
Also, look for COEHS at the President's tent near Hanson Field from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. prior to the October 31 game against North Dakota State.
Department of Social Work Hosting Two Events
The WIU Social Work Department will be hosting two events in Macomb on Saturday, October 24.
The first event, Gandhian Thought and Human Services, presented by Thomas Walz, Ph.D. is from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. in Horrabin Hall 78. Walz, professor emeritus from the University of Iowa's School of Social work, has also served as the former director of the Peace Corp in Honduras, as the former director of the School of Social Work at the University of Iowa, and founded the Extend the Dream Foundation. He is currently teaching a course at the University of Iowa on Gandhi. Admission is free and the presentation is sponsored by the WIU Department of Social Work, the Social Work Student Association, and Phi Alpha.
The second event, a screening of the documentary, A Friend Indeed. The Bill Sackter Story, will be held at 7:00 in the University Union's Sandburg Theatre. Get to know Bill Sackter, a national hero who forever changed the way society looks at people with disabilities, in this highly entertaining and inspiring documentary. Special Guest, filmmaker Lane Wyrick will be at the screening and will have DVD's available. Tickets are $10 and proceeds benefit the Department of Social Work.
LEJA Career Fair
The Law Enforcement and Justice Administration Career Fair will be held Tuesday, October 20 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. in the University Union Grand Ballroom and is open to all majors, students, alumni, and the general public.
Approximately 80 agencies will be recruiting for full-time and part-time employment as will as for internships.

Attention Dance Theatre Alumni
While the dance program has moved from COEHS to the College of Fine Arts and Communications, the University Dance Theater is still looking for some alumni. Come join them for a weekend of master-classes, performances, and celebration December 3, 4, and 5, 2009. Master-classes will be held Friday at 2:30 p.m. and Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Brophy Dance Studio. Performances will be held December 3, 4 and 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Hainline Theater in Browne Hall.
Complimentary tickets will be given out to all UDT alumni. A reception will follow the Saturday performance in the Lamoine Room in the Student Union, full of fun, friends, and food. A Goodbye Breakfast will be held Sunday morning at a place and time to be announced at a later date. If you cannot make any of the festivities, you can send a video greeting by October 20, 2009. Alumni are invited to choreograph for this concert and can send in their submissions by October 3, 2009 and will be notified by October 17, 2009.
