Charles Carey '75 has been named vice president of the merged Chicago Stock Exchange and the Mercantile. Carey received a Distinguished Alumnus Award from Western's College of Business and Technology (CBT) in 2005, and served as Western's First CBC Alumni in Residence.
Ana Maria del Carmen Cortés Carranza MA '92, an administrative technician in the Mexican Consulate in Austin, Texas, received an "In Integrity" medal from the Mexican Foreign Service for her contribution during her more than 13 years in the Mexican Foreign Service and her work toward the acceptance of the consular ID card as identification in institutions of the U.S. Her innovation, developed in cooperation with the Austin Police Department and Wells Fargo Bank, has since spread to many other parts of the United States.
Leslie Webb MS '96 was featured in an article in the Yakima (Wash.) Daily Herald about the Central Washington University Diversity Education Center, of which Webb serves as director, being "the driving force behind a campus culture of increasing acceptance and cross-cultural understanding."
