Rodriguez named WIU chief technology security officer

Mike RodriguezMichael (Mike) Rodriguez, former vice president for information security at Compass Bank in Birmingham, Ala., has been named chief technology security officer (CTSO) for the Western Illinois University-Macomb and Quad Cities campuses, according to Executive Assistant to the President for Quad Cities, Planning and Technology Joe Rives.

“Mike's extensive knowledge of technology security, his current certifications and his background in user services, coupled with strong commitments to user support, made him an ideal candidate,” Rives said. “With his talent and leadership, we are continuing to advance the security priorities and goals detailed in the Institutional Strategic Plan for Technology at Western Illinois University .”

In addition to consulting, Rodriguez has held posts at RR Donnelley and IBM Global Services. He received his Bachelor of Science degree from North Central College in Naperville, Ill. and his Master of Science degree from DeVry University in Chicago.

“Being part of a user-centered university technology team is very exciting,” Rodriguez said. “We have great opportunities to work with the campus community to advance technology security.”
