The Western Illinois University Alumni Association has announced a new feature of RockeNetwork, the official WIU online social network. Alumni who are searching for a new job or are interested in "re-careering" can now do so via RockeNetwork through the new careers feature.
The Alumni Association has partnered with WIU Career Services to allow alumni another way to search and post jobs, and to gain information about jobs posted on the network.
“We look forward to our alumni logging in and utilizing this new feature,” said Amy Spelman MS ‘98, director of Alumni Programs. “If you have not used the network, we hope you will consider trying it out especially with this new feature—you will not be disappointed.”
Launched in 2006, RockeNetwork (formerly called inCircle) is a portal exclusive to the WIU alumni community. The network allows alumni to reconnect, stay connected and meet new alumni through the people they already know.
With the new feature, WIU's RockeNetwork offers continuous access to new job opportunities, mentoring, and the ability to network professionally.
Through RockeNetwork, alumni have access to:
• The global WIU community of alumni leaders in their job function or industry
• Targeted career opportunities not available anywhere else on the web
• Qualified employment candidates
• Powerful network of ideas, member-blogs, resumes and more
RockeNetwork is exclusively for WIU alumni. All first-time visitors are required to register to gain access. Visit incircle.wiu.edu to start networking today.
“The new careers feature is helpful to job seekers in that they can browse through jobs as well as find WIU alumni who work at that particular business,” said Amanda Shoemaker, assistant alumni director and RockeNetwork manager. “Through your connections, you can contact the alumnus and inquire about the company. On the flip side, alumni who are looking to hire fellow graduates can post jobs on RockeNetwork. In addition, companies have the opportunity to advertise job openings through a secure network. The process is simple—and the best part is that it's all free.”
