New Partnership with Black Hawk

President Al Goldfarb and Black Hawk College (BHC) President Keith Miller announced in August a partnership to provide BHC graduates the chance to complete their bachelor's degree through Western's Board of Trustees bachelor of arts (BOT/BA) degree program and participate in WIU's unique Cost Guarantee program.

“This partnership further reinforces Western's commitment to degree completion for community college students who cannot be in residence on our campus,” said Goldfarb. “We are excited about working with Black Hawk College, our long-time partner in education, to provide this additional educational opportunity for individuals within the Quad Cities region.”

In June, Western's Board of Trustees approved modifying the WIU Cost Guarantee—a four-year fixed tuition, fees, room and board rate that remains in place as long as students are continuously enrolled—to provide a one-year reduction for transfer students who earn an associate degree. The plan will be implemented for transfer students who earn an associate degree and immediately transfer to WIU the following academic term.
