Robert Nardelli ‘71 has been appointed Chrysler's chairman and chief executive officer. Nardelli formerly served as CEO of Home Depot.

"Bob has a proven track record of success and an unwavering focus on performance, and he brings deep operational experience and a broad industry background to Chrysler. His background in operations will provide valuable knowledge as we continue Chrysler's turnaround.”
Nardelli was a three-year letterman on the Leathernecks football team from 1968-70 and was co-captain and an all-state and all-conference athlete in 1970. He served as an honorary co-chair of WIU's $25 million Centennial Campaign, which concluded in December 2000.
Nardelli was the recipient of an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters, awarded at the University's May 11, 2002 commencement exercises.
