This course has several goals: to give you experience creating a website to give you experience working on projects in a team process to give you experience working directly with clients on a variety of graphic design projects to give you experience contacting and submitting your work to a freelance employer This class will begin with an introductory, small group project: making a simple website. Through the semester, we will also work on projects related to the development of a Graphic Design major. At a minimum, these projects will involve designing logos, posters, webpages and other forms of online publications. Other projects will vary in media and scale - culminating in a project in which you will seek and then work with a client. This class will be different from the other design classes in which you worked on classroom assignments. I see my role in this class more as an art director - facilitating, organizing, assigning roles - rather than as an traditional classroom instructor.
After the initial two projects, we will meet every Wednesday to review the progress of your individual and small group projects. When a project ends, a final presentation will also be given. We will need to determine who will work on these projects, the time commitment, required skills, etc. I have developed "contracts" for each project, which will need to be filled out at the project's beginning and end. The purpose of these contracts is to clearly define responsibilities and to help in planning. Also, they will be used to review and assess the project and help you to think critically about your work.
In addition, each student will need to select and contact a freelance employer. Everyone will need to complete Contact form and briefly present this information to the class.

It is imperative that you take the initiative to bring such needs to my attention, as I am not legally permitted to inquire about such particular needs of students. Students who may require special assistance in emergency evacuations (i.e. fire, tornado, etc.) should contact the instructor as to the most appropriate procedures to follow in such an emergency.
