This
exhibition of prints from the Western Illinois University Art
Gallery Permanent Collection includes a range of early Old Masters
prints by major European artists such as Albrecht Dürer, Rembrandt
van Rijn, Giovanni Battista Piranesi, William Hogarth, Honoré
Daumier and Francisco Goya to later 19th and 20th Century works
by Auguste Renoir, Georges Rouault, Félix Hilaire Buhot, Louis
Lagrand, Maurice Vlaminck, Max Beckmann, Marc Chagall, Salvadore
Dali, Pablo Picasso, Hans Erni and Marco Sassone. The exhibit
also features several works by American artists Leonard Baskin,
William Gropper, Ben Shahn, Werner Drewes and Seong Moy.
A
variety of printmaking techniques are represented, including the
woodblock printing techniques of wood engraving and woodcut; various
intaglio techniques such as etching, aquatint and drypoint; lithography,
and serigraphy.
