In this series of paintings and drawings, artist Elaine Clance Lynch explores the feminine experience and concepts of beauty. The visual language of her imagery, developed through personal experience, appropriates pop-culture, objects, textiles, pattern and color having common reference to femininity. Her art often incorporates collected objects that are tied to the rituals of adornment ordinarily associated with women, presenting a personal testimony to feminine experience. She teaches in the Department of Design, Art, Architecture and Planning at the University of Cincinnati.

This exhibition is co-sponsored by the Illinois Humanities Council, WIU Women's Studies Program, WIU Women's Center, WIU Foundation, College of Fine Arts and Communication, and the Department of Art.
