This exhibition features recent works on a Halloween theme by WIU Professor of Art Bruce Walters. These works, most of which were created during Professor Walters' sabbatical, exemplify the wide-ranging artistic production of one of our most distinguished faculty.

The central theme, Halloween Flight, is a series of graphite drawings that can be read as a fairly straightforward narrative that begins with trick or treating. It is, however, also steeped in symbolism and references to traditions of remembering the dead as well as ancient harvest celebrations that signaled the beginning of the dark half of the year:

Summer's path has led to winter's threshold.
Its entrance moonlit as foresaid.
Enter gravely or with revelry bold
for with you, also pass the dead.
