the cartographer’s dilemma examines the digital fog of image and sound and how it affects our democratic public sphere and civic identity. it asks why existing noetic economies (knowledge systems) discourage the creation of a public sphere that promotes contest, collaborations and creativity. the currators are paul guzzardo, jesse codling and david walczyk. their respective practices include urban and graphic design, documentary film, music-video remix and computational media. additional artists include alan brunettin, emily grothus and jordan morrell. wall graphics, multimedia projections, sculpture, painting and touch screen technology will be used in the installation. installation content is drawn from literary and journalist sources that include edgar allan poe, samuel clemens, jorge luis borges and robert kaplan.
