This larger than life bronze bust of Leon "Bix" Beiderbecke is located between Beiderbecke Drive and the riverfront band shell that is at the heart of the annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival.
The memorial includes a series of plaques placed on a wall behind this bust and its pedestal. One plaque is inscribed with the following quotation by Hoagy Carmichael: "In Harlem, in Hollywood, in the Chicago southside, in LaJazz hot joints in Paris where the city folks come to listen to his music, they still talk of "Bix".
