These two granite sculptures are located near the entrance of
the Putnam Museum. They weigh approximately 3000 lbs. each.
Installed in 1966, they were created in China during the Ch'ing Dynasty. They are a gift to the museum from the B. J. Palmer estate.
According to Putnam records, "The dragon is the spirit of change, therefore of life itself. It wields the power of transformation and the gift of rendering itself invisible with pleasure -it is the genesis of strength and goodness."
