“East Moline Rapids” by Ted McElhiney 1999

This rolled aluminum sculpture represents the rapids that once characterized the Mississippi River in the Quad-Cities area. Before the lock and dam system was constructed, this area of the river was difficult to navigate.

The sculpture is currently located in the East Moline downtown area. Eventually it will be moved to the riverfront.
