This work represents the Mississippi River's lock and dam system. Each gate corresponds to a lock and dam on the river. The steps relate to the river's descending levels of elevation as it flows towards the gulf. The Leach Park Project was designed by a community group led by artist Stuart Morris (from Mt. Vernon, Iowa) and Quad City Arts.
