Soldiers of Moline Memorial by C. S. Paolo 1929-30

This large bronze memorial is placed at the center of Stephens Square Park, a small park near downtown Moline. The words "Erected in the Memory of the Soldiers of Moline by Minnie Stephens Allen" are inscribed on the base. A flag pole rises from the center of this grouping of five symbolic figures.

The figures are very skillfully rendered, but crowded together. Traditional symbols and classic attained figures are combined with naturalistic details and poses.
